To all you in the movie industry.

Fri Oct 5, 2007, 7:10 PM
STOP! For the love of all things holy in this world, STOP WITH THE SPASTIC CUTS! In the past dozen or so movies, whenever theres an action scene that involves melee battles, there are so many cuts that its hard to keep track of whats going on in the damn film! When you have cuts during action scene that come very close to the frame per second the projector is set on, it's hard to know whats going on. It gets so bad in some movies, I'm very tempted to just walk out on them! I was almost going to walk out War, the one with Jet-Li. (You know, the dude that said that his previous movie was his last. I just forgot what it's called.) The movie was horrible. the plot was crap, as you would expect of any action film, but thats not why you go to them. Whenever a supposed action scene appeared, it was like someone gave some hyperactive kid an IV drip of sugar and cafieen and let him lose on the frames. It was illegible! most of the time all I had to go on was the audio, but thats not very reliable to know whats going on. To a lesser degree Shot Em' Up was also like this. When crap like this happens, it's one of those times I'd rather just play on a Nintendo DS for the entirety of the movie.

Whatever happened to the time when action movies had action you could watch? Who originally thought hiring a 5-year old doped up on speed was a good idea? Is this a money saving trick? Maby with all the cuts, people wouldn't notice that that particular 5 or so frames is actually the same 5 or 6 frames from 3 cuts ago? And why is this BS leaking onto TV? The premier of Bionic Woman in its action scenes were like this too. I just couldn't watch those parts and instead opted to watch the grass grow in Oblivion.

What set me off though is that I was watching The Kingdom, there was this scene where the main character defended a supporting character from a general with some martial arts or something. It was mostly a blur because someone mixed up all the frames and just plastered them on the final cut.

Am I alone in my frustration? Is there someone out there that sympathizes with this? Because if it weren't popular, you'd think this would be stricken down when the first Resident Evil movie came out.(I shudder at the thought of that movie... god it was bad...)

No idea really, Tiamat. But if its drawing, I can assure you it's not going to be one of the best things to grace the Internet. But, once I get some motivation to do more writing, then I'll get right on it. I'm thinking of releasing on a per chapter basis, and every 5 chapters or so, condense them into one file to save on clutter.

At the moment, the only issue is motivation, it's a huge block. I just need a little feedback to see if its worth pursuing. I'd really hate to just put out random stuff that nobody likes. However, your inquiry is much appreciated.

Sorry for the slow response times, but really, I'm bad with things like forums.
